Iteration

Further refinement and contortion of the numbers begins to bring a surface that is more dynamic and accustomed to the space that will be used for the installation. What concerns me now at the moment is construction, material, etc. It is in the back of my mind slowly brewing and I am concerned it will be more difficult than one thinks.

Panelization is an especially interesting course to go expecially since it would be easiest to construct. A conference today with the structures teacher provided myself and the design committee with some solid ideas for construction, especially since we are now planning to follow the route of panelization.

My personal desire is to use clear line and chipboard panels. I think it will give a bulkier feel and more successfully distort the space.

Iteration 2

The collection of data to base a curve off occured today. The installation committee provided me with raw data of the grade curves of several courses that freshmen take in the School of Architecture. From there I began to generate a surface that responded to these numbers. This is a new iteration.

Recent Activity ; Upper Limit

The School of Architecture at Syracuse hosts an annual Beaux-arts Ball. This year there is a plan to construct an artificial surface that begins to distort your perception of space. Looking at precedence such as Voromuro and Voroduo, as done by DA Architects or the Radiolaria Project constructed by the students at the University of Kassel, we have begun to do a series of works and studies in regards to its eventual realization.

Over the next two weeks I'll be put up study images as things move from conceptual stages to the area of realization. To start, these are a couple of the initial conceptual images.
